Organic hair care products could be set for a surge in popularity among style-conscious females who want to stay in vogue.

According to Wallet Pop, there are a number of key trends that are set to sweep the fashion world in the autumn.

As a result the publication decided to get expert advice from a number of hairstylists to see how to get a great look over the next couple of months.

Speaking to the news provider, celebrity stylist and beauty expert in Los Angeles Billy Lowe said: "The best hair right now is a more unstructured look, even with male clients."

He added: "For women, look for continued soft, tousled curl around the neck and shoulders."

Furthermore, the specialist explained volume has become increasingly popular in recent times.

And ladies who want to take heed of his advice may like to consider investing in natural hair care products from buyOrganics.

Tips may offer assistance to fans of organic makeup

Advice on how to properly apply mascara could help organic makeup users achieve a perfect look.

According to PM News, one of the main reasons for clumpy and spider-like eyelashes is incorrect application of mascara, something organic makeup users may find a regular issue in their morning routine.

To ensure an even coating and a flawless look, the source advised women to "wiggle the wand [from] left to right at the base of lashes".

Continuing to move the mascara wand around as they draw it up the lashes is also advised to make sure a finish is free from clumps.

To make extra sure that eyelashes will look perfect, women should wipe any excess mascara on a tissue before attempting application.

Sante Natural Volume Mascara from buyOrganics is specially designed to open up lashes and be kind to eyes and, as it comes in both black and brown, is said to be ideal to wear in both the day and night.

Natural skincare products to help with oily complexion?

Natural skincare product users in their early and mid-20s could find that sticking to a regular routine helps them to tackle oily skin.

Writing for a Forbes blog, Megan Casserly noted that no matter a woman's age or perceived attractiveness by people around her – using A-lister Jennifer Aniston as an example – oily skin could be a confidence destroyer.

For 20-somethings, the main issue with skincare could be a busy lifestyle in which looking after skin falls behind enjoying nights out, holidays and social events.

Skincare expert Stacy Cox told Miss Casserly that "20-something skin is as hard to pin down as their lifestyles".

She advised not sleeping in makeup, using sun cream everyday and drinking lots of water, which could help those with oily skin to control shine and keep their skin healthy.

According to recent research by the NPD Group, more and more makeup users are becoming interested in products like that boast skincare benefits. More than half of those surveyed said that makeup with built-in sun protection is important to them.

Demand for natural nail polish to increase following 365-day challenge?

A year-long challenge set by one makeup lover could lead to an increase in popularity of natural nail polish among individuals around the world.

According to the Today Show, Melissa Osburn is attempting to paint her nails with 365 unique designs in 365 days, after ending up with "around 70 bottles" of varnish.

She stated she embarked upon the ambitious project in a bid to help her feel she has justified all of her many purchases.

The news source stated a multitude of people flocked onto the blogger's website since the scheme started last year, but Ms Osburn explained she is not surprised as the cosmetic product has numerous benefits.

"Nail polish is the ultimate accessory … it's cheap, easily accessible and always fits," she said.

And growing numbers of people could become inspired to invest in natural nail polish as a result of Ms Osburn's story.

Retailer buyOrganics stocks a wide range of Zoya nail polish collections, which are free of toxic chemicals such as Formaldehyde, Toluene and Dibutyl Phthalate.

Organic cotton bedding could be ideal for autumn refurb

Organic cotton bedding could give homeowners the chance to freshen up their bedroom this autumn, if comments from one expert are anything to go by.

In an article for Shelterpop, Amy Preiser wrote there are a number of different things people do to prepare themselves for the changing of the seasons and asked for readers' to share their ideas.

According to Kristin Tavrides from Bien Living Interior Design, she has two sets of differently-coloured bedroom items that she alternates between during summer and spring and autumn.

She said: "For the [autumn], they are deep reds and oranges, while spring and summer bring blues and whites."

Ms Tavrides went on to say it is "fun and refreshing" to change everything around once a year.

And those who want to implement the expert's idea may want to head to buyOrganics, which offers numerous collections of cotton linens, mattress protectors, duvets and throws

La Claree Product Review - Finland

At buyOrganics we appreciate that many of our customers are not English and actually come from as far as Denmark, Finland and even Japan and New Zealand. So we are happy to be able to provide this review of La Claree products for our Finnish fans courtesy of a great web blog that we recently came across http://fashionedinfinland.blogspot.com that is dedicated to great beauty products.

So this is what Nea of Fashion in Finland thought of this great line of organic skincare

Oliv' by La Clarée ihonhoitosarja

For our English speaking fans roughly this means that she was impressed that the range is from France and Cosmobio and Ecocert certified organic, Nea thinks they look elegant and the scent is womderfully mild

La Clareée Oliv' eye and lip contour treatment.

(roughly translated - This composition of a smooth and refreshing gel is rich in moisturizing and firming of natural active substances. It is absorbed instantly into the skin and smooth visible wrinkles and fine lines. Fatigue signs of fading, and the skin looks firmer. Hydrates the skin and protects it against free radicals. The skin is once again vibrant, soft and vibrant. "

This product is a gel, "slippery" and lightweight, yet very moisturizing. Makes the skin very soft. Tuubiin packaged, lasts longer than a good bottle at hand. My mother would like this a lot,)

(English translation- This creamy mask gently exfoliates dead skin cells from the skin and absorbs toxins, causing the skin to breathe better, and while making it soft and bright. "

This kaolin and treating oils containing the facial mask in particular was on my mind. The product is smooth, rather than shell mechanically. I've used a clay mask, but this does not feel uncomfortably dry on the face and the skin is just wonderfully soft after use. The product can be used 1-2 times a week for 10 minutes. This will vakikäyttöön, a wonderful product!)

(This face cream is rich in natural antioxidant substances. It moisturizes the skin for a long time and strengthen its defenses. The skin becomes vibrant again, soft and flexible. "

I tested this only in the neck, as my skin is pretty sensitive this helps me more easily find out which product / component may not be suitable. I found this softens the skin , makes it clear and your skin will feel really really soft. Tuubipakkauksesta also a plus)

(Roughly translated This velvety cleansing milk is rich and soothing and antioxidant properties of plant origin active substances. It gently removes makeup and skin impurities while maintaining skin's own protective membrane. The skin becomes smooth again, soft and pure, and more heleämpi. Next, it is ready to receive a daily hoitovoiteen. "

The product is creamy and soft, packed pump bottle. I used this makeup cleansing gel to clean before and it has worked well. The packaging is clever!
I liked the series and I recommend the series, especially older relatives! Seniors

Thanks Nea, I know you didn’t do this review for us, but its great to see what people independent from us think of the line!!! It is a great line for aged 28 upwards, I wouldn’t count myself as a Senior though , and I love it! :D

Natural skincare products may help reduce reddening

Natural skincare products could be ideal for people with sensitive skin who are worried about their body reddening, following comments from one expert.

Speaking to Teen Vogue, New York-based dermatologist David Bank explained such skin needs to be looked after with the help of specially-formulated products that will soothe the surface of the body.

This, he stated, is because sensitive skin is often very delicate, with fine pores that react quickly to things like temperature changes.

Those wanting to take good care of their vulnerable complexion may like to invest in natural skincare products available at buyOrganics.

The retailer stocks a wide range of items that do not contain any nano-refined ingredients, petroleum-based oils, fragrances or colours and leave "your skin soft, supple and moisturised … naturally".

In addition, the company's collection of organic makeup may come in handy for those who want to cover up the reddening of the skin frequently experienced.

Neal Schultz, founder of DermTV.com, states individuals wanting to do so should opt for concealers "with a yellow or green tint".

Expert dermatologist tips to naturally protect your skin from aging

A recent article on nola.com interestingly pointed out some great tips on how to improve your skins appearance and deter aging through easy steps. Although fillers and the like tend to be the first call at the appearance of a wrinkle for those with superfluous funds, many others would prefer a more natural solution to anti aging than injections in the face.

It is true that everyone has a different tolerance level for the onset of aging. But most of us, at some point, will glance into the bathroom mirror and think, “Is there something more I should be doing to slow down the inevitable?
Dr. Kathy Fields, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California at San Francisco reassures us that “It’s not vain to want to look your best, whatever that means to you,”
Fields and her partner, Dr. Katie Rodan, an adjunct clinical associate professor of dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, are the authors of “Write Your Skin A Prescription for Change,” this latest blockbuster is an Amazon best-seller that cleverly blends medical advice, anatomy lessons and beauty tips and into a fashion mag style must have text.
They are not 20 something preaching to those of us who are tackling these issues either, they are in fact 55 and 52 respectively and look a decade younger than they are, they swear to never having had plastic surgery.
“Eighty percent of how we age has nothing to do with genetics,” Rodan said.
“That’s the good news,” Fields continued. “The bad news is that it’s our habits, the things we do and don’t do, that can make a difference.”
Over breakfast (egg-white omelets, with spinach, no cheese) they shared the following advice for improving your skin’s appearance at any age, including tips that even those who swear off everything but the most basic soap-and-water regimen might be willing to try.

1. Sleep on your back“Want one of the best beauty secrets that’s completely free? Sleep on your back,” Fields said.
“We can look at our patients and determine exactly how they sleep,” Rodan said. If you sleep on your side or on your stomach, your body weight and gravity can etch lines into your face. “A line between your nose and your mouth will become deeper over time, or you can develop a crease that doesn’t naturally exist,” she said. “When you’re young, your skin bounces back and those creases go away during the day. But when you start to age, you start to see them deepening and lasting.
The bottom layer of skin consists of fat cells and deeper hair follicles, Fields said. This is actually fat you want. It gives skin that full, cushiony softness we love — think pinchable baby cheeks. “As we get older,” she said, “we tend to lose that natural fat pad and collagen support. The skin no longer bounces back.”
For many of us, falling asleep is hard enough without messing with our preferred positions. So how do you change your habit? Fields recommends trying a contoured pillow. “It’s not good for snoring, but it’s good for the face.”

2. Exfoliate daily

“Exfoliation is something to live by, for all ages. You should do it once a day,” Fields said. “It promotes cell turnover; it encourages the natural sloughing off of the dead skin; it helps to unclog pores; it helps to get makeup out of pores; and it helps to make skin more light reflective. These are all very good things.”
It also helps the skin to soak up more of the active ingredients in your anti-aging creams, Rodan said.
The key is to be gentle. “We like round beads. We don’t like almond pits because they can scratch the skin. You don’t want anything jaggedy. If your skin is sensitive, you’ll want to make sure you use tiny little grains and very gentle pressure. Back off if you see irritation.” We love La Claree Oliv Face scrub treatment
Rodan also recommends using a roller fitted with tiny acupuncture needles — they sell one in their Rodan + Fields line — to break through the outer layer of the skin and allow the deeper penetration of anti-aging treatments. “With any topical treatment, some of the beneficial ingredients may get in but some don’t. With the roller, it breaks through the outer layer of skin, essentially opening the door for the uptake of these anti-aging ingredients,”

3. Even out your skin tone
that seems dull might be hiding a secret. Skin “As you get older, when you look at your face, you might see a little dark spot here and there on the surface,” Fields said. What you may not see with the naked eye is that, under the skin, is hidden spots.
That pigmentation can be “sun induced and hormone induced. And it makes your skin look dull and old,” Fields said.
“Think about a clear lake and a muddy lake,” Rodan said. “The muddy lake has a lot of sediment in the water, so the sunlight is scattered, not reflected, making it look murky. In the clear lake, light is reflected, making it look translucent.”
So what can you do about hidden pigmentation? It’s a four-step process: exfoliate, lighten, brighten and then protect from the sun.
“After you exfoliate, use hydroquinone (a lightener, this isn't very natural by the way and from my research can be quite dangerous, so in my books you may want to skip this step and go straight onto the vita min C serum). I don't think its safe but they say it is "and comes as an over-the-counter medication and as a prescription (2 percent concentration is over the counter, 4 percent is prescription strength),”

They recommend following the hydroquinone with brighteners, products that contain such things as vitamin C, plant extracts such as bearberry or licorice, or retinol or kojic acid. Use both treatments all over the face, not just on visible spots. We love John masters Vitamin C serum or John Masters Bearberry range
Rodan stresses that it’s easiest to find a treatment program that contains all of these steps. The goal is to even the skin tone.
“It’s the even tone that makes you look younger,” Rodan said. “Someone younger who has clear skin with just a little pigmentation may do this for a month or two. Someone in their 60s who has really accumulated a lot of this coloration under the surface may do it for six months, or until they see a brightening of the skin over all.”
But the last step is the most important: sun protection. “If do all this but don’t wear sunscreen,” Fields warned, “then you’re wasting your time.”

4. Avoid the sun
It's important to wear sunscreen — even indoors.
“UVA rays are around all day long, sun up to sundown, and they come right through windows,” Rodan said. “We see patients who commute on the freeway and their left side is more damaged than their right, because they’re getting too much sun through the car windows.”
The key is to ensure you’re wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA, the rays that cause wrinkles, sagging, dark spots and skin cancer, as well as UVB, the rays that cause burns.
Rodan advises patients to flip their sunscreen bottles over and scan the labels for zinc oxide, avobenzone or mexoryl as active ingredients. We love John Masters organic sunscreen with zinc oxideAlso, you should reapply during the day, which can be impractical for women wearing makeup. “A great way to touch up over makeup is to use one of the minerals powders. Many have zinc in them.” We love Inika.

5. Leave those pimples alone
Leave spots on your face alone. “You’re not going to make it go away any faster, and you’re going to injure the skin,” Rodan said.
“It’s genetics; it’s hormones; it’s stress, unfortunately,” Rodan said.
If you’re a woman prone to a break out every month, then start marking your acne treatments on your calendar.
“Treat with your medications a week before your period, and it probably won’t happen,” she said. “You don’t want to wait until you see that first pimple to start. You want to prevent it.”

For all you natural skin care anti aging products buyOrganics has carefully picked the products with the most active and beneficial ingredients that really work.

Latex mattresses may be perfect for those 'clearing the cobwebs'

A natural latex mattress could be a good investment for people who are looking to spruce up their home and sleep better in the process.

In an article for wonderwoman.in, Richard Laliberte and Benia Se noted regularly replacing bedding items is a good idea and can improve and individual's health.

The writers explained swapping pillows removes the risk of bacteria being drawn to areas where hair and body oils are soaked in.

In addition, the journalists suggested homeowners change mattresses every five to seven years to improve the quality of their sleep.

They said: "A study at Oklahoma State University found that most people who switched to new bedding after 5 years sleep significantly better and [experience] back pain [on fewer occasions]."

And those taking heed of their advice might find they benefit from a natural latex mattress from buyOrganics.
The product is handmade in the UK and completely metal free, wrapped in pure organic Welsh wool and finished with a fixed organic cotton cover.

Organic cotton bedding could stylise the bedroom

Organic cotton bedding could be set to grow in popularity among homeowners who want to spruce up their bedroom following comments from one industry specialist.

In an article for SquareRooms - published on Today Online - Khoo Hui Shan noted bed sheets have the ability to "make or break" the style of the bedroom as they cover "the most important object" in the room.

The writer explained people should consider the colour of the sheets when choosing new bedding, as darker items may start to fade after multiple washes, while stains may be more visible on lighter ones.

"Fabric also plays a role in providing a comfortable rest," the journalist said, before adding: "Natural fabrics like cotton and silk are more breathable."

The remarks follow advice from terrysfabrics Helen Green, who said gold-coloured duvet covers can help a bedroom appear cosier.

At buyorganics we give consumers a choice of modern contempory organic designs that provide upto date elegance as well as chic and comfort.

Top Tips to Winter Proof Your Skin

As Briton braces itself against Arctic winds hitting our shores this week, we have some top tips for natural skincare lovers who want to keep their skin in peak condition despite the environmental onslaught.

On Monday, scientists from Bath University revealed that aqueous creams used by eczema sufferers may do more harm than good so switching to alternative products that re-balance and protect your skin naturally may be the best answer.

Showering Reduces the body’s natural oils

The tendency during the winter months is to have hot showers; however this strips the skin of essential natural oils. It’s better during these harsher months to shower every other day unless you are very sweaty. You can always spot wash important areas daily. Use a mild shower wash such as SAVE Body wash as it has no Sodium Lauryl Sulphates and is therefore gentler on skin.

Always Use a Body Moisturiser

After your shower make sure you put essential moisture back into your skin with a natural organic body moisturiser that uses natures finest oils rather than synthetic ingredients to seal your skin and block pores. We love La Claree Body Moisturiser which instantly transforms your bathroom into a Spa!

Turn down the Thermostat

Keeping the heating high isn’t just bad news for the environment, its also bad news for your skin. It strips the moisture from the air leaving your skin dry, scaly and itchy. Wear natural cotton layers with socks to keep your toes warm. Try organic bedtime clothing without the fire retardants in (yes they are secretly in there!!), that will help your skin too.

Drink Lots of Water

Just because its not hot, doesn’t mean you still don’t need essential hydration. Switch hot caffeinated drinks to a mug of warm water, taken first thing in the morning it will help detox your body, and it will counteract the diuretic effects of Coffee and Tea.

Protect yourself from the sun

It maybe cold but a bright sun can still damage your skin. Make sure you use a natural moisture cream such as Trevarno with spf15. Not only will It feed your skin with essential organic nutrients, but it will also protect you from sun damage. Try something stronger like gamarde spf50 if you are going skiing.

Don’t Forget Your Hands

Hands take a beating during the winter months, already subjected to a punishing routine through cleaning and cooking, the weather can further damage the skin. Make sure your hands stay young looking by using rubber gloves, latex free are also available in some stores for those with allergies. Use a natural hand cream after all chores and washing and before you go out and go to bed. Protect your hands from the cold with gloves.

Do Test different Products

If you find that you or a family member has particularly bad eczema or psoriasis, try changing the products your use one at a time. For instance I recently recommended an organic shampoo to a mum whose 6 year old was suffering terribly from eczema all over her face and upper body, she had never considered her shampoo and found an immediate difference when she switched.

Combat winter effects of dry hands and flaky brittle nails naturally

Natural skincare lovers will be interested to know the latest beauty secrets of one expert - Katherine Reeves, sales manager for nubar who has shared with us her essentials for having beautiful looking hands and nails throughout the winter season.
Her advice is to have a couple of items in your handbag at all times, these include a natural hand cream and a cuticle treatment.

Ms Reeves advised: "[Use] loads of hand lotion and cuticle oil. It really is just making sure that you are keeping the hands nice and hydrated with lots of cuticle oil before bed just ... to keep [your nails] nice and strong."
We particularly love Trevarno’s Nail Conditoner and Olive and Almond hand cream. A little of these on your hands every night before bed will have your hands and nails looking and feeling fabulous, and will help create strong, flexible and unflaky nails.

Ms Reeves has also suggested that anyone who isn't a fan of this season's look should stick to blues and purples for their autumn nail colour of choice.

Natural Sleep for Baby – Natural Bedding Options

If you look around on various baby health websites, the information can be quite confusing. Information can be mixed and sometimes contrary to what you as a mum feel would be good for your baby.

For instances, some experts believe that the mattress should be covered in PVC whilst others say that babies bed clothes should be fire retardant treated.

Experts change from weaning at 3 mths to 6 mths, from putting baby to sleep face down, to sleeping on their back!!! Some say don’t sleep with baby in the bed…but I always did!

As a mum who has raised 2 children and is into natural living, I find these options grate against the grain. However, I am not a so called medical expert and you are free to follow advice you think you should follow. When it comes to baby I think only you know best, and sometimes with all the best intentions in the world, we end up having to change our opinions when it comes to the crunch.

So here’s my top ten tips on choosing natural baby bedding
1. buy an organic mattress, that is made of all natural materials, it can easily meet British fire standards without chemicals and should display the BS7177 standard as minimum.

2. Check the cot to be sure that the mattress fits snugly. There should be no corner-post extensions and no decorative cut outs in the headboard or foot board which could trap your baby's limbs

3. Buy organic cotton bedding that can be washed up to 60 or 95C to kill any bacteria or dust mites.

4. Use an organic cotton mattress protector to help prevent the mattress from being soiled. This should also be washable at a high temperature.

5. Use organic cotton bedding and sheets. The organic choice will mean that there are no chemical residues, in the fabric and the natural fibres will ensure that baby is at the right temperature

6. Do swaddle!!! Babies like feeling snug as they felt in the womb. It’s very comforting.

7. Use an organic duvet and an organic pillow after baby is about 1 year old, its not really suggested before then. If it is cold use a plush organic cotton or wool blanket. Acrylic blankets aren’t great and again a natural option is better at regulating temperature.

8. Make sure that the room has not just been painted when you put baby in. If it is painted, paint well before, air and ventilate and use an organic paint such as Auro paints instead of Dulux.

9. I wouldn’t suggest the immediate use of a dust mite spray on the bedding to begin with. Once its on, it won’t fade away straight away and if it doesn’t agree with baby then you may have a problem, just vacuum babies mattress weekly with the upholstery attachment and wash the bedding regularly.

10. Only use natural cleaning products in babies room and on babies bedding, avoid heavy chemical cleaners, detergents or highly scented fabric conditioners.

Organic cotton bedding 'has numerous benefits'

Organic cotton bedding could be set to grow in popularity among homeowners, after one writer noted such products offer a multitude of advantages.

In an article for Helium, Dr Pandula Siribaddana noted the use of natural materials in the bedroom could help to reduce the number of allergens that are present, as they do not contain "any chemical fertilisers, hormones or any other synthetic toxic agents".

Additionally, he stated organic linen is better at maintaining body temperature, which means "comfort levels of these materials would be higher in comparison to synthetic versions".

Dr Siribaddana added natural bedding can be recycled more easily and is environmentally-friendly due to the lack of chemicals in the items.

And Britons inspired by the expert's comments may want to head to buyOrganics, where there is a wide range of organic cotton linens available for homeowners.

These include mattress protectors, blankets, throws, pillows and duvets from brands such as Fou Furnishings and Boomarang.

Stay in fashion this autumn with organic makeup

Organic makeup can help to counteract the drab trends that are in fashion this season, it has been suggested.

Claire Coshan, writing for Helium Health and Beauty, advises the popular greys and browns of autumn clothing can be livened up with the addition of more vibrant shades of organic makeup.

Blusher, rather than bronzer, is a key loook for the autumn, but fashionistas must take note that when it comes to colour they must concentrate on either their eyes or lips so not to overdo it on the makeup front.

Ms Coshan suggests opting for emerald greens, purples and golds for eyeshadows and liners, while bright pinks and reds are a great choice for the lips.

However, she recommends exfoliating the lips before applying any colour to ensure they look even.

buyOrganics has an extensive collection of professional performance organic makeup in a wide range of vibrant colours that may be perfect for the autumn months.

Natural nail polish wearers to opt for brown this autumn?

Those who enjoy wearing natural nail polish might want to consider opting for brown-coloured cosmetic products this autumn following remarks from one specialist.

In an article for the Daily Telegraph, Jane Cullen explained the shade is currently in fashion, matches every outfit and will potentially "change your life".
She added she's surprised the hue has not been on-trend before, adding it is an "update" on the pink manicure that was once so chic.

Offering advice to fans of nail varnish on how best to apply the product, Ms Allen stated: "Always wear a base coat to ensure the bold colour doesn't stain after removal, then apply two layers of nail polish for the richest finish."
And women who want to get in style this autumn may like to peruse the collection of natural nail polish on offer at buyOrganics.

The retailer stocks numerous ranges by top brand Zoya, whose varnish is free of toxic chemicals such as toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate.

Is a disturbed sleep affecting your cognitive ability

Experts warn that disruption of an individual’s natural sleep-wake cycle can lead to a reduction in lifespan and brain functions. This will not come as good news to new parents who are often disturbed at night, or people who suffer from sleep disorders or work on night call.

The human body works according to a natural 24-hour sleep-wake cycle, also referred to as a circadian rhythm, which controls body temperature, sleep/wake timing, and the way our organs and body systems work together, as well as our IQ. Past research has shown that irregular sleep patterns and shift work take a toll on even the healthiest person over an extended period.

Scientists have linked disruption of an individual’s natural sleep-wake cycle with reduced longevity and demonstrated it can actually cause ill health and cognitive impairment over time.

For example, studies have shown that when internal biological clocks in hamsters are out of sync with external rhythm regulators (i.e. light/dark), the heart becomes damaged and enlarged (cardiomyopathy), and the kidney tubules sustain significant scarring. Other studies have shown Cognitive decline in the elderly and may also be linked to poor quality of sleep in youth (July issue of Neurology 2007, researchers at the San Francisco VA Medical Centre (SFVAMC). Experts have also shown that the grogginess you experience in the morning may be due to the part of your aleep cycle you were disturbed in (August issue of the Journal of Biological Rhythms)

Dr Stephen Oluwole, a neurologist at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, said that one’s quality of sleep can affect one’s cognitive skills, adding that studies have shown that those that have enough sleep are better in school than those who either sleep too much or too little. He said that the body has an optimal number of hours of sleep that it needs. If it is too long, the individual wakes up drowsy and fit is too short, he wakes up not feeling fresh.

People that snore are at risk in that the respiratory tract is blocked during certain periods and so leading to a reduction in amount of oxygen available to the brain. This may lead to the functions of the brain getting impaired, thereby manifesting in different ways, such as drowsiness during the day, reduced reaction time and memory impairment.

Your sleeping environment should not get in the way of good uninterrupted sleep. Duvets that leave you feeling sticky and hot or that are not thick enough when it's cold should not be the reason for you loosing sleep. Getting a good nights sleep is the main objective at buyOrganics where organic duvets made of the most natural breathable fibres allow your body temperature to remain regulated as in nature, providing the optimal amount of comfort for you to get a good nights sleep, without any harmful chemicals that can affect your breathing or health short term or long term. Other duvets may contain bleaches, formaldehydes, fire retardant chemicals and allergens. None of these are present at buyOrganics – we know about sleeping well!

Get the Latest Natural Makeup looks for autumn and winter 2010/2011

The latest makeup trends as predicted by Models Direct and Kate Shapland of the Telegraph for Autumn and Winter 2010/2011 indicates that this season is going to be chic but not vampy with deep dark bold lip colour and subtle tones every where else.

Bold lips can still remain natural by using a natural organic lipstick, defining the lip line and filling in with a lip brush to create full luscious lips. Colours can range from blackberry and cassis to taupe!

Natural makeup lovers can create this awesome look by complementing their lips with deep dark hues of brown, orange or caramel tones of natural eyeshadow. For maximum effect sockets should be highlighted with a lighter shade and the eye should be lined with a dark earthy shade to give a smoky look.

Keep the eyes free of mascara by going for a softer more natural shade or completely clear. Cheeks should capture the latest catwalk natural look with a natural shade of bronzer highlighting the top of the cheekbones and iridescent blusher applied low on the cheekbone.

To complete the look brows should be bold, nicely shaped and defined with brow pencil.

Getting the look is easy at buyOrganics which stocks the latest natural makeup range from Inika. Sumptuous and vivid mineral makeup colour, which is both professional and completely pure. 100% Certified Organic makeup or vegan or both, halal and cruelty free to boot!!!!

How to Care for and Clean your Natural Latex Mattress

Sleep is obviously an essential part of our daily routine. Therefore it’s really important that our mattress is not only clean in the sense of being toxin and chemically free but also daily clean from daily dust, mites, skin cells, and other allergens. A clean healthy mattress will give you a comfy and restful sleep.

1. Flip your latex mattress over and around every six months. To provide even wear, flip your latex mattress so that the top is now on the bottom, and turn it so that the foot of the mattress is now at the head. Depending on the size of your mattress, this can easily be a two person job. Be careful to protect your back and try not to let a latex mattress fold on itself otherwise it may get damaged.

2. Cover your latex mattress, to protect it and extend time between cleanings . Consider purchasing an organic mattress cover such as the Molton Mattress Protector, to protect the surface of your mattress. The mattress preotctor should be washable, easy to remove and replace on your mattress such as the Molton which can be washed at up to 95C which will kill dust mites.

3. Manually Remove dust from your latex mattress surface. Dust, dander, and dust mites build up in your latex mattress naturally, although the internal wool layer will prevent them from travelling deep into the mattress core. Even those of us without allergies can begin to notice dust and dirt in our latex mattress. Vacuum your mattress using the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner on a weekly basis. If someone does have allergies in your home, you may need to vacuum more frequently and/or purchase mattress covers.

4 If the latex mattress surface becomes dirty or soiled, then patch wash the soiled area. Mix a mild detergent with water until suds form. Apply the dry suds only to the soiled area using a sponge. Wipe the area with a sponge that has had warm water wrung from it. Allow the area to dry thoroughly. If the cover is removable remove it and machine wash at about 60C to kill dust mites, but do not use the mattress until the cover is put back on. Don’t allow the interior padding of the mattress to get wet. If it's warm outside, you can dry a mattress quickly outside. You can also use a fan blowing across the mattress surface to insure that it dries quickly

5 Air Your Latex Mattress Regularly. As often as possible , remove all sheets and coverings from the latex mattress, after hoovering the mattress and floor below the bed , open windows and allow the air to circulate around the mattress.

Preventing Cancer Naturally - Top 10 tips

Cancer is on the up everywhere you look. More and more of my closest loved ones are being diagnosed with this awful disease and I am keen to share some tips that I have picked up on how to avoid cancer as naturally as possible.

The Environmental Working Group recently found that children are born "pre-polluted" with nearly 300 industrial chemicals, pesticides and contaminants that have been found to cause cancer in lab studies or in people.

1. Filter your tap water: tap water can contain carcinogens such as arsenic, chromium, and chemical byproducts that form when water is disinfected. So invest in a reverse osmosis filter or a simple tap mounted carbon filter

2. Avoid Stain proofing and Non stick coatings such as Scotch guard and Teflon. These are often found in carpets, clothing, and packaged foods

3. Use natural cleaning products in the house and natural furnishings wherever possible such as natural mattresses. Regular furniture especially in the UK requires the use of heavy duty fire proofing chemicals

4. Prevent Sun Damage use a natural sunscreen, wear a hat, stay in the shade, and avoid over exposing yourself and especially protect young children

5. Reduce Diary and Fatty meats – pesticides, artificial hormones, dioxins, and PCB’s all accumulate in the diary and meats we eat. Where possible eat organic alternatives, soya milk is excellent as are lean organic meats and fish

6. Try and eat organic fruits and veg that is as close to locally grown as possible

7. Avoid unnecessary exposure to BPA: Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic oestrogen found in some hard plastic water bottles, canned infant formula, and canned foods. Some of these chemicals cause cancer in lab studies. To avoid them, eat fewer canned foods, breast feed your baby or use powdered formula, and choose bottles free of BPA.

8. Avoid toxins in your toiletries : when shopping buy natural skincare products that do not contain anything with PEG or ingredients ending in the letters – eth

9. Avoid drinking excess alcohol regularly

10. Take regular exercise and make time to relax. Change your mental attitude to a more positive one and reduce stress in your life NOW!

Gamarde - The best all natural sunscreen without chemicals

With summer here, sunscreens are flying off the shelves, but natural skincare product lovers will know that the chemicals lurking in sun protection lotion can also leave you vulnerable to skin damage.

Only recently, May 2010 to be exact, the Environmental Working Group reported the results of a year long study which found that a common sunscreen ingredient called retinal palmitate caused tumours and lesions to develop 21% faster in lab animals.

With consumers applying sunscreen that contains this to their skin on a frequent daily basis during the summer months and sometimes all year round in hot countries, this news is of obvious concern!

Gamarde all natural sunscreens and self tanning fluids do not contain any harmful chemicals such as retinal palmitate. Gamarde have produced a mineral sunscreen range that uses natural zinc oxide minerals to protect from the sun combined with other natural and organic ingredients such as Argan Oil and shea butter that nourish and protect the skin. With Spf factor 10, 15 and 50 and self tanning fluid the range protects against harmful UVB, UVA, UVC and IR rays, by utilising natural mineral sunscreens and filters naturally present in nature and the epidermis.

Their exclusive formulas leave no white mark traces on the skin. Which is great news if you hate looking grey! Other key ingredients include thermal spring water from the Gamarde springs, which combined with the nourishing oils and butters, nourish the skin and provide high antioxidant protection to prevent premature aging.

Gamarde natural sunscreen also contains NO Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, synthetic colouring agents, PEG’s GMO’s and are Not tested on Animals. All Cosmetique Bio Certified !! Great value, amazing results, luxury performance!!

Like pure skincare, but want to protect yourself from the sun with really good organic face cream?

Now that the sun is shining, many of you will be concerned about protecting the delicate skin of your face from UV rays. In fact organic face cream with spf factor is essential all year round, as uv rays attack our skin even when the sun is not shining. Using an organic face cream with an spf factor of about 15 or above can in fact help protect our skin from aging, fine lines, free radical damage and uv damage.

Organic face creams are the purest we can buy, and some companies refrain from adding sun protection factor in case of worries about the creams purity. However some companies have mastered the production of organic face cream with spf in it in the purest form possible.

Trevarno does two organic face creams both with an Spf factor of 15. Their ever popular Day cream and Rose and Jojoba Face creams both come with and without Spf. Trevarno Day cream is an excellent face cream for all skin types, that also contains vitamin E whilst their Rose and Jojoba cream is especially good for drier and maturer skin types.

John masters has created an independent mineral sunscreen Spf 30 for use on the face which can be used alone or in combination with any of the john masters organic face creams and serums.

So whatever level of coverage you require and what ever your skin type, even the most sensitive - we can help you find the ideal organic face cream with spf for you.

John Masters new Bearberry organic skincare range for oily skin

John Masters fans will be pleased to know that the creator of luxury organic hair care products has added to his range of luxury high performance skin care products with specialist products for Oily skin.

The new collection treats, tames and soothes oily skin without drying, and that too, totally naturally! Enriched with extracts of bearberry which aids in sebum reduction, willow bark from the Swiss Alps which is astringent , antiseptic and anti inflammatory- helping reduce pore size, and softening rice extract, you are sure to see the difference after just one day of use. Three new products, cleanse, tone and nourish the skin with natures most beneficial astringent and skin balancing extracts.

The John Masters Balancing Face Wash contains 20 oil fighting extracts including citrus oil and alpha hydroxy acid to exfoliate the skin whilst encouraging the growth of new cells, plus, bearberry and willowbark. Sapindus mukurossi a natural surfactant cleanses whilst also suppressing bacterial growth.

Follow with Bearberry Balancing Toning Mist which balances the pH of the skin, reduces inflammation and the appearance of large pores whilst leaving skin glowing and refreshed. Green tea leaf extract infuses skin with anti-oxidants while bearberry extract helps to reduce sebum production. The Bearberry Balancing Toning mist also contains Peach extract to naturally tighten the skin and minimise wrinkles. Rice extract softens and tones also.

Finally, Bearberry balancing serum provides the perfect very light moisturising equilibrium for the skin, leaving it soft and nourished whilst also calming and soothing with rice, willow bark, green tea and bearberry extracts. In addition Sodium levulinate balances the skin's pH while sodium anistate helps reduce the growth of acne causing bacteria.

Three simple steps provide an ideal range for individuals with oily skin, even those with combination skin. The majority of skincare solutions for individuals with oil skin often leave the skin over stripped and harshly de-hydrated thereby causing prolonged oiliness and damage. John Masters Bearberry range is the perfect treatment for balancing and reforming oily skin.

Logona Age Protection Wrinkle Therapy Fluid - The Anti-Aging Organic Skincare product that delivers what it promises

Out of the hundreds of organic skincare labels that exist out on the market today, not many have the track record of Logona Age Protection in regards to delivering high performance results as well as value for money.

Most organic skincare lines leave customers disappointed as skin problems go unaddressed and creams sit heavily and weightily on the face without absorbing very well and without delivering promised results.

Logona Age Protection wrinkle therapy fluid is reasonably priced at £36 and tests show that it has consistently outperformed £100+ products in the 2008 Green Beauty Bible review, this was decided by a panel of independent testers. The Wrinkle Therapy fluid scored 8.9 out of a possible 10, scoring higher than any previously trialled commercial brands. No other brand can offer the same results for your pound as this range, and this is true of both commercial and organic labels.

Sarah Stacey’s review voted Logona Wrinkle Therapy Fluid as Miracle cream of the year in the Daily Mail with a score of 8.9 out of 10.
‘From a pioneering German natural brand, this cream is designed to promote elasticity and radiance, and treat 'facial fatigue and stress' (as they put it). Logona's clinical results show a 33 per cent improvement in moisture and a 30 per cent reduction in the depth of lines and wrinkles. The phyto- (plant) active ingredients that help to achieve this include certified organic jojoba, soy oil and sea buckthorn oil, plus hyaluronic acid, shea butter, grapeseed oil, and extracts of bamboo and quince.
Comments 'Skin smoother, softer, more radiant and youthful: bigger wrinkles improving steadily, everyone has noticed'; 'Visible difference in skin softness and smoothness as well as plumpness'

Another press review from Wealden Times gave the product a score of 9 out of 10. So all in all, this product has been given the thumbs up from pretty much everyone who tries it.

As with all Logona products the Age protection Range is BDIH certified organic, ensuring that there are no ‘nasties’ in the formulations and the range is also 100% free of nano- refined ingredients. The range is also completely animal friendly. Wrinkle Therapy Fluid by Logona ticks all the boxes in terms of its ethics and purity, whilst delivering exceptionally high performance. Having tried it myself I was amazed at the results after just 1 application, I’m now a definite convert, and will be sticking to this for some time to come!!

No longer do you have to be dissapointed by your organic skincare, as buyOrganics dedicates itself to high performance products that don't compromise on purity

Does your Organic Skincare contain Sustainable Palm Oil?

Organic Skincare lovers will be interested to know that a letter popped through my door a couple of days ago from WWF – The World Wildlife Fund that brought to my attention the problem that is being created by Palm oil production in tropical countries.

Palm oil is used in around half of all packaged food products sold by supermarkets – you may find it listed as ‘vegetable oil’, in anything from bread to shampoos. Mostly sourced from Malyasia and Indonesia, it is produced from plants grown on land that was previously rainforest.

This threat to the rainforest also threatens the animals that live there such as the Orang-utans, Tigers, Elephants and Rhinos. Not only are the animals affected, but also local communities that rely on the same forests for food and shelter. Knock on effects also include global warming and climate change.

The WWF has been active in producing a round table on Sustainable Palm
Oil (RSPO) which is the only multi-stakeholder initiative of its kind that's committed to promoting sustainable production of palm oil across the world. With over 400 members, including palm oil growers, processors, traders, manufacturers, and retailers, RSPO has developed principles and criteria that are crucial to sustainable palm oil production. We are looking into membership opportunities at buyOrganics.

The RSPO iniyiative has made real ground in increasing the sustainability of this industry with over 1.3 million tonnes of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) being produced over the last year, of which more than 460,000 tonnes have been sold to date. That quantity amounts to only 37% of the available annual supply, but sales have grown in recent months as more companies start to change their policies and catch on as to what’s at stake.

In light of this information, presented by WWF and the BBC programme Panorama, buyOrganics, is committed to review it’s organic skin care products and give preference to manufacturers using Sustainable Palm Oil.

In the spotlight is Trevarno Organic Skincare. Trevarno is a wonderful range of organic skincare made in the UK for the whole family that brings beauty and nature together. Not only is the range certified organic by the Organic Farmers & Growers Association, but it is also dedicated to the environment by buying locally grown West Country herbs and obtaining sustainable Palm Oil from a producer who works closely with the Worldwide Fund for Nature. We are proud to be able to present this wonderful organic skincare line to you knowing that it is ethical and completely environmentally sound. Our favorite product of the month is the Trevarno Organic Day Cream that has been given the thumbs up from customers who have had really bad skin allergies and found that this cream works really well for them along with the Trevarno Rose water and Chamomile Toner.

At the moment it is difficult to know what products contain Palm oil that is sustainable, but this is a change that is sure to occur with public pressure

Healthy sleep for the chemically sensitive.

Organic mattress lovers will be interested to hear about a recent article claiming some organic mattresses contain fire retardant chemicals. What a shock, surely the whole point is to get away from chemicals and sleep on a pure surface! Just so you know this is catagorically unacceptable at buyOrganics!

These companies site the reason for using fire retardants in their organic mattresses as due to fire safety regulations and law. This is actually not accurate, in the UK anyway. In fact what is required is that any mattress pass a flame test, the surface should not smolder if a light is held to it for a designated amount of time. This flame retardency can normally only be achieved through use of flame retardant chemicals, however it can also be achieved through natural means, some companies just don’t have the know how of how to do this naturally and without chemicals.

We can proudly say that our Organic mattresses have achieved fire safety tests and have the BS7177 test naturally without the use of any fire retardent chemicals and are Soil Association certified also

Studies have shown that flame retardants migrate into the blood stream of humans; In addition, Dioxin, a bleaching agent, and formaldehyde are two other unpleasant chemicals which may be found in a conventional mattress that can cause health problems.

To ensure that you are getting the most out of your organic mattress, ensure you get synthetic dye free organic cotton sheets, under blankets and protectors. We have combined the best organic mattresses with the most sumptuous organic sheets together at buyOrganics.

All in all, when buying, be careful to check that the organic mattress you are buying does not contain fire retardents and is in fact pure organic as ours are.

New Inika – Natural Mineral Makeup Looks for 2010

Just before Christmas Inika launched its new product range, full of vibrant colours for 2010. The collection was an instant hit with natural mineral lipsticks, eye shadows and blushers, and some new treats to add. New to the already best selling range of pure Mineral foundation powder makeup is the mineral liquid makeup, which gives you total coverage and flawless perfection that’s even ok for the most sensitive of skins. The Inika collection now boasts a luscious new lip whip which provides colour and hydration in one swoop, as well as a light reflecting crème and fantastic new shades in the range.

So if you’re looking to update your natural makeup bag this spring, check out some of Inika’s new colours. The latest looks this season are inspired by Nicole Farhi’s 2010 Catwalk of Green and Purple colours. Here are some tips on how to create the same stunning look

Get that flawless matt look with Inika’s Mineral Foundation; pick the shade closest to your skin colour. Make sure your brows are shaped and coloured either using Inika Brow baby pencil or using a mineral eyeshadow, I use Coco Motion from Inika’s new range applied with an angle brush.

Apply Purple Haze Inika Mineral Eyeshadow to the top lid with the Inika eyeshadow brush. Keep the brush damp when applying if you’d like a darker look or dry if you’d like a powdery finish. I love platinum eyeshadow on the outer corner of the brow.

For the great green finish, I’d recommend either the new Kingfisher mineral eyeshadow shade or Forest Gold, depending on how dramatic you want to be and what complements your clothes best.
Get that great liquid eyeliner look, with Inika’s black eyeliner, just dampen it first before applying. Finish with lappings of Black mascara; we love the new Inika Volumising Mascara.

For the gentle natural looking lips I recommend Naked Ambition Inika Lipstick and subtle touch of Inika’s Rosy glow to contour the cheeks, or an Inika bronzer that suits your skin tone.

All products are free of bismuth oxychloride, parabens, phthalates and synthetic dyes and available online at www.buyorganics.co.uk. Stocks are selling out fast so some items are on back order, they're going out as fast as they're coming in!!!

Organic Hair Conditioners that create Salon Style Hair

Natural Hair care enthusiasts will be interested to know why conditioners are so important for our hair and why they work on keeping our hair looking fabulous when used properly.

The use of natural hair conditioners will keep your hair looking naturally shiny and glossy, while keeping locks strong and also helping to prevent damage. No amount of hair conditioner can actually repair damage, however, ‘Conditioners smooth the cuticles, reduce static electricity, protect against UV damage and enhance overall appearance," says Dr. D'Anne Kleinsmith, a dermatologist in West Bloomfield, Mich
Conditioners also help keep the hair's cortex hydrated. "Dry, out-of-condition hair lacks moisture, and without enough moisture, the number of hydrogen bonds may be reduced," explains John Gray, author of The World of Hair. "Conditioning allows reestablishment of the hydrogen bonds and improves the moisture content of the hair by improving the weatherproofing of the cuticle."

The actual way you use conditioning treatments on your hair, depends on your hair type as well on its length and your usual hair care routine. All types of natural and organic conditioners are available now that can combat problems associated with your hair type and give you the actual salon impact you want to have at home. For instance, is your hair subjected to heated styling products everyday? Do you use a lot of chemical products on your hair? Is it curly or fine?

For fine hair we recommend skipping your roots and just conditioning the ends so that your hair doesn’t get weighed down too much a light organic conditioner such as Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler by John Masters is perfect for this. This is also a great product for helping detangle thick unruly hair, although thick hair does require more intensive conditioning to tame it and get it moisturized to the right level. For this we’d really recommend Lavender and Avocado Intensive organic hair conditioner by John Masters.

Curly hair needs serious conditioning every time you shampoo, on the days you don't shampoo, run a conditioner through your locks if they've gotten bulky and unkempt to help them relax and detangle easily. Rinse your scalp thoroughly but leave a trace of conditioner in your strands.

To avoid dehydration and frizz, use a deep-conditioning mask every two weeks. Maximize the results by applying the mask, then covering your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap and running the heat of a blow dryer a few inches above your head for five to ten minutes. We really love John Masters Organic Dry Hair Nourishment & Defrizzer. If your hair is extremely dehydrated, use a basic conditioner to detangle, followed by a leave-in conditioner to sustain moisture.

Coloured hair needs a different type of conditioner because hair colour can remove the essential lipid layer that coats the hair shaft depleting your hair of its natural waterproofing qualities. And since a basic conditioner is formulated to deposit on waterproof hair, it becomes ineffective on color-processed tresses. We love Intensive repair organic hair conditioner by Green people that helps put back the protective layer on the hair. Another excellent product for colour treated hair is John masters Honey and Hibiscus hair reconstructor.

How to Use Your Organic Hair Conditioner:

Pour a blob of conditioner onto the centre of your palm and rub your hands together to spread out. Using your fingers somewhat like a comb, apply the conditioner from the midsections of your hair down toward the ends. "You should concentrate on these areas, as they are the most damaged parts of your hair," explains Shiel. "When you rinse your hair, enough of the product will then deposit on the parts of your hair closest to your scalp." You may also want to use a paddle brush or wide-tooth comb in the shower to distribute the conditioner throughout
